Managing Employee Communications with Virtual PBX
March 10th, 2010
When I was in business school one of my lecturers used to say that you are only as successful as your employees. It may appear skewed thinking to some but to others it is the almost biblical mantra that good business practice demands. Virtual PBX is another device that helps you to fulfill your desire to have your employees have a commmon platform of communication. This system allows you to organize the activities of your office with the minimum of extra fuss so that you can concentrate on the business model as it demands.
Working in a happy place is fun
One may not normally think that employees will take a great deal of interest in the new telecommunication system that might even be used to manage them from a remote location. A pleasant and efficient environment of work is what is liked by any employee except the really worst kinds. Many will be ready to accept the usability of virtual PBX if it is proved. In any case with the virtual PBX system you are able to take employees aware from less priority matters towards the core business objective of making maximum profits. All sensible businesses have this as a common objective.
Dealing with the problems as they are thrown at the PBX system
The initial resistance that you might experience with a new virtual PBX system is just common practice for most businesses when they bring in new systems. Be practical and give your employees a benefit of doubt. It might just mean that they are expressing some reservation about a system that even you yourself may have reservations about. Try to list to their concerns as much as possible and if there is any way that you can make up for some of the problems that are arising then you should not hesitate to intervene in order to improve the effectiveness of the virtual PBX project that you have begun.
Training can really help in dealing with traditional resistance . You have to recognize that if people are struggling to manage your virtual PBX system then you are unlikely to get much productive work out of them unless you are prepared to give them proper training. The training systems that you put in place may be the one thing that will ensure that there is broad support for your virtual PBX system.
There is a need for every man in the company to learn how to use the virtual PBX system to understand their roles and privileges. Managing from a distance using a remote control is not the only thing. Make sure that the administrative and supervisory systems work. It also involves the responsibility to ensure that your systems are fully compliant with the new virtual PBX system. Senior management action can have a transformative effect on the willingness of your employees to embrace and develop the new virtual PBX system. Thus they shouldn’t be neglected.
